Danny Woody, an individual I met at a field trial a few years back. What impressed me about Danny Woody is a person who is genuine in his approach, practical, determined and has a tremendous work ethic. Danny's approach is to keep it simple and it works. I was always impressed with what I saw in Danny's dogs and felt one day I would send him one of my own. I picked Sage up in May 2005 and immediately I realized I really had the dog that I had always wanted. I looked forward to each conversations concerning my dogs progress and communicated with him almost weekly.I also look forward to sending him another dog in January. When sending a dog to Danny you will not find "high tech". You will not find that your dog was boarded more than it was worked. I truly believe that you will get the results you have asked for. I do not want to pose as a poster ad for Danny or any other trainer. I do get excited daily when working my Setter that Danny FF for me, Again I finally got the dog I have always wanted and would recommend Danny's abilities to anyone seriously wanting to improve their bird dogs.

I bought a pup out of Lizzy's first litter x Poole's Royacelle Rhett. At 24 months she is pretty much finished with training and is making a nice dog. Danny is as honest as they come and what he tells you will be the way it is. I feel that if we are to better the Llewlllin strain we must not get kennel blind and we must cull unmercifully to achieve our long term goals of improving the dogs. I actually cull more pups than I keep. The pup I got from Danny (Sadie) Sherrod's Royacelle Gal is definately a keeper. You NLGDC guys will get to see her this year at our club trials. I would buy another puppy from Danny in a heartbeat. He is a strait up guy.

Danny Woody came highly recommended when I needed a trainer for my big male setter. Chappy had done some hunting, definitely had "the right stuff", but needed tuning up. He did not retrieve at all. I was somewhat reluctant to have Chappy "force fetch" trained but was assured that Danny knew how to handle this chore and do it right.

When I went to Missouri in December to pick up Chappy, I was pleasantly surprised at the results Danny had achieved. Chappy not only retrieved everything he was asked to fetch, he did so willingly and happily. The high recommendation for fetch training was a primary reason for choosing Danny but I was happy to see that all phases of Chappy's bird work had been improved on during his training. After I got him back to California, he had a very productive season on Valley Quail, scenting birds at long range, holding his points forever and backing when my other setter made the find. Chappy's retrieving has been perfect. He has fetched every bird willingly and delivered it to hand in a head high happy manner. Danny had told me he wanted Chappy to not only retrieve, but to enjoy retrieving. It worked.
During my visit with Danny, he coached me on how to handle Chappy and how to correct him if he ever failed to retrieve. A bonus was the opportunity to see Danny working with his young puppies. They were amazing. Danny uses lots of birds in his training, believing that lots of birds make a bird dog. I liked the fact that Danny does not take shortcuts during training. He has great patience, a soft touch and great understanding of bird dogs. I decided on that trip that when I needed another bird dog, he or she would be from Danny's kennel. I could not be more satisfied and I would be pleased to recommend Danny as a trainer and breeder to anyone who wants a bird dog that can do it all and do it happily!
